Ashton Kutcher Gets Emotional When Explaining Why ‘All Lives Matter’ Supporters are Missing the Point

Ashton Kutcher tearfully explains why saying and understanding Black Lives Matter is important.

That 70’s Show actor, Ashton Kutcher, 42, is pleading with the people who stand by “All Lives Matter” to get educated, saying they are “missing the point.”

Tuesday Kutcher took to his Insatgram after many of his followers commented “All Lives Matter” under a recent post. In response, the star decided to address his audience in a tearful video with the caption #BLM vs. #ALM in hopes that they will understand the important difference in each saying.

“I don’t think the people that are posting ‘All Lives Matter’ should be canceled, I think they should be educated,” says Kutcher.

This conversation was sparked during bedtime story, after his son Dimitri, 5, asked why can’t his book get read first instead of his sister Wyatt, 5, a vulnerable lesson about inequality in women. Kutcher explained to his son as boys they should always allow the girls to go first, because some boys don’t allow girls to go first but they do. This lesson sheds light on the oppression that women still face in society today.

“So when it comes to Black Lives Matter,” he added, “I think what folks that are writing ‘All Lives Matter’ need to understand is that for some people, black lives don’t matter at all. So for us, Black Lives Matter!”

In the emotional conclusion of the video Kutcher noted, “So while you may have the best intentions, in saying ‘All Lives Matter,’ remember, for some people, black lives don’t matter at all.”
