Celebrities Rally in Support of Protest after George Floyd’s death

Celebrities are showing just how loud their voices can get.

Over the weekend stars took to the street to protest the unjust treatment of the black community. This backlash came after the killing of George Floyd, 46, unarmed black man, who was pinned down by a white police officer who also kneeled on his neck, who passed away with his last words being, I can’t breathe, in Minneapolis.

Among the protestors included HBO Insecure actor Kendrick Sampson, 32, who was hit by several rubber bullet in Los Angeles. Sampson says he was hit 7 times with rubber bullets as well as the baton. Sampson took to Twitter and said, “He pointed the gun DIRECTLY AT ME.” He was treated at the nearest ER where he also showed his injuries on his Instagram.  In a recent article with Variety, he said the reason why he is protesting is to defund the police for the unfair narrative that has been told for generations.

The violence was also captured on Sampson’s IG live.

Singer Ariana Grande, 26, was also amongst those protesting and holding up a sign that read “ Black Lives Matter” in Los Angeles. The singer took to twitter to urge the media not to ignore the peaceful protest that is happening in parts of the city. Some areas protestors became violent and started looting businesses. The Looting was capture on news coverage, the city has been put under a curfew and the National Guard has been deployed to gain control over the situation throughout the evening.

Additionally, supermodel and author of The Cravings cookbook, Christy Teigen, 34, showed her support by making a $200K donations to go towards bailing out those arrested across the U.S. for protesting after President Trump made an announcement on twitter calling D.C. protestors “vicious dogs” and declaring that Saturday night will be “MAGA ( Make America Great Again) Night” at the White House.

“In celebration of whatever the f— maga night is, I am committed to donating $100,000 to bail outs of protestors across the country” Teigen writes in responds to President Trump’s tweet. The amount later doubled when one user bashed her for her support of the protestors, calling them “rioters and criminals” she then responded with, ” Ooo they might need more money then. Make it $200,000.”
